Rudolf Scharping takes over Management Board mandate

We are pleased to announce that Rudolf Scharping will also support the Grand Départ Allemagne project in an official capacity as a member of the Board of Directors.
Rudolf Scharping has been closely associated with the association and the German Grand Départ bid since its inception. By taking over the position on the Board of Directors, this long-standing substantive and personal support is now also formally reflected.

Rudolf Scharping is a former Federal Minister and Honorary President of German Cycling. He has been closely involved with cycling associations throughout Germany for many years and has extensive experience in national and international cycling.
His appointment to the board underlines the institutional anchoring of the German bid in organized cycling. It makes it clear that the bid has a broad federal basis and is closely interlinked with the existing association structures.
Established connection to the international tour leadership
Just like the Leipziger Volkszeitung Rudolf Scharping and the Tour Director have been in contact for some time. Christian Prudhomme a long-standing relationship in sports policy.
Both are linked by a close relationship with international cycling that has grown over the years, as well as a shared understanding of the social and political significance of major sporting events. This connection is not a new aspect of the bid, but part of an established sports policy network that is now also becoming structurally visible.
